Cathedral coach Bob Karn to be inducted into Hall of Fame

Cathedral High School’s head baseball coach, Bob Karn, will be inducted into the National High School Athletic Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame June 26 during the association’s national convention in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A 1959 graduate of Cathedral, Karn has taught English and coached at CHS for 49 years, with 48 seasons as head baseball coach. His teams have won nine state championships. Karn is the winningest coach in Minnesota High School Baseball history: he has been named the Minnesota Coach of the Year five times and was named the National Coach of the Year in 2015.

From 1973 to 1991 and from 1999 to 2003, Karn served as CHS’s head basketball coach and was an assistant football coach early in his career. For 25 years, Karn also served as the director of baseball and softball programs for St. Cloud Park and Rec in the summer. He and his family are members of St. Paul Parish in St. Cloud.
