More than 80 middle school youth and adults from 12 parish groups gathered Jan. 31 for a youth rally with the theme “Christ Among Us” and coordinated by Catholic Education Ministries.
Many youth were able to participate in person in eight different parishes; others signed in online and participated virtually from home. Joe Melendrez, a Catholic speaker, musician and retreat leader from Los Angeles, California, was the MC and keynoter for the event. Youth also heard from Hannah Schaefer, an up-and-coming female Catholic music artist.
The day focused on recognizing the role God plays in our lives and welcoming his presence. Students noted that the Holy Spirit helps them to “evangelize and be better.” Students also noted that the Holy Spirit makes them feel “safe and alive” and “connected to God.”
