Obituary: Crosier Brother Timothy Tomczak

Crosier Brother Timothy Theodore Tomczak, 65, died Oct. 31 at Mille Lacs Health System Long Term Care in Onamia. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, at the Crosier Priory Church, Onamia. Inurnment in the priory cemetery will follow the funeral liturgy. Dinner will be served after the service.

Brother Timothy was born March 30, 1954, to Theodore and Celia (Greske) Tomczak in Moose Lake, Minnesota. He attended Kettle River Elementary School in Kettle River, Minnesota; Moose Lake High School in Moose Lake; and Crosier Seminary in Onamia. He earned an associate degree in 1974 and a bachelor’s degree in elective studies from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud in 1991.

Brother Timothy entered the Crosier novitiate in 1985 and made his first profession of vows Aug. 28, 1986, in Hastings, Nebraska. He professed solemn vows in Shoreview, Minnesota, on March 17, 1991. Many of his assignments and ministries centered around religious life as a member of the Crosier communities in New Rochelle, New York; Shoreview; Phoenix; Rome; and Onamia. Brother Timothy served the Province of St. Odilia as facilities manager, associate vocations director, receptionist and mission preaching coordinator. He also served in pastoral ministry at All Saints Parish in New York from 1991 to 1998.

He is survived by his sisters Mary, Stella Dyer, Antoinette Johnson, Clare, and Dolores Berglund; his brothers Kevin, Kenneth, Blaise and Daryl and their families; his Crosier confreres and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark.
