Obituary: Franciscan Sister Lorraine Olmscheid

Franciscan Sister Lorraine Olmscheid, 83, died Feb. 28 at St. Francis Convent, Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, in Sacred Heart Chapel at St. Francis Convent. Visitation will be held at St. Francis Convent on Monday, March 4, from 4 to 8 p.m. with a Franciscan wake service at 7 p.m. Visitation continues from 9 to 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral on Tuesday, March 5.

The youngest of 10 children born to Frank and Elizabeth (Wulfekuhle) Olmscheid, she was born Nov. 4, 1940, in St. Martin. Sister Lorraine was accepted as a Franciscan Sister of Little Falls July 31, 1960. She was a Franciscan Sister for 63 years.

Sister Lorraine ministered as a domestic worker. She served in David, Kentucky; in the Diocese of St. Cloud in Little Falls, Elk River, Breckenridge, St. Cloud and Onamia; and in Duluth, Anoka, Coon Rapids and St. Paul, Minnesota.

Survivors include her sister Adeline Graf, sisters-in-law Mildred, Peggy and Marion, nieces, nephews and her Franciscan Community. Sister Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Eugene, Julian, Hilary, Roman, Claude, Stanley, Bernadine Dingmann and Mary Ann Fuchs.

Donations preferred to Franciscan Sisters ministries.
