St. Benedict’s Monastery appoints new leadership team

Sister Karen Rose, who was elected as the 18th prioress of St. Benedict’s Monastery, St. Joseph, on Feb. 25, has selected the leadership team that will serve with her for the next six years: Sister Sharon Nohner, subprioress; Sister Jeanne Marie Lust, treasurer; and Sister Colleen Quinlivan, community secretary.

Sister Karen has served as the monastery’s director of mission advancement since January 2016. Prior to this, she was communications director. She will be installed June 4 at Sacred Heart Chapel.

Sister Sharon currently is the monastery’s authorized representative for the sisters in the Minnesota Health Care Programs and assists in the monastery business office. After serving in parishes within the St. Cloud and New Ulm dioceses, she was subprioress from 2005-2011 and then spent 10 years as director of campus ministry at the College of St Benedict in St. Joseph.

Sister Jeanne Marie has taught biology at the College of St. Benedict since 1990 and will retire this spring.

Sister Colleen serves as community secretary within the monastery’s current leadership team and will continue her role for the next six years. She also serves on the St. Cloud Hospital board of directors and corporate board for the College of St. Benedict.

The leadership team is responsible for guiding the community in all operational, spiritual and fiscal matters.
