October is Respect Life Month

October is Respect Life Month — a time to reflect more deeply on the dignity of every human life “from the beginning of life to its end, and at every point in between,” as the U.S. bishops say in their resource material for the observance. This year’s theme is “Christ Our Hope: In Every Season of Life.”

“The attacks against human life seem to grow more numerous and callous by the day,” Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City, Kansas, and chair of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said in a letter for the observance.

“Your efforts on behalf of the unborn, the dying, the elderly, the imprisoned, the poor and so many others have a profound impact, both now and in the life to come,” he added.
