Ad Altare Dei retreat for Boy Scouts held Oct. 27-29

For Boy Scouts who wish to earn their Ad Altare Dei (“To the Altar of God”) Religious Emblems Award, the Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting will host a retreat weekend Oct. 27-29 at Briggs Lodge, Camp Stearns. This retreat is open to any registered Boy Scout, grade seven or older, from the St. Cloud Diocese (limited to 25 Scouts due to facilities). The retreat begins at 7 p.m. Friday and concludes at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. Father Ben Kociemba, chaplain, will offer a reconciliation service and weekend Mass on Saturday of the retreat.

During the retreat, young men will hear guest speakers on the church’s seven sacraments and engage in group discussions, fulfilling many of the requirements outlined in the Ad Altare Dei manual. The indoor weekend also includes a campfire and snacks.

The cost is $35 for the weekend, which includes food, lodging and all materials. Boys must bring a copy of the Ad Altare Dei manual (purchased at the BSA Central MN Council office) and a pen.

Scouts can register online at scoutingevent.com/296-AADR16. For more information, email Deb or Mike Peters at mdpeters@albanytel.com or call 320-746-2377.
