Bavarian Musikmeisters event to raise funds for Coats for Kids

The Bavarian Musikmeisters, a 35-piece wind instrument band from the Twin Cities, will present a concert at the Holy Angels Performing Art Center, 3rd St. and 6th Ave., St. Cloud, from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29. Sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council #5548, the performance is a fundraiser for the Coats for Kids program.

The Musikmeisters are modeled after the traditional village bands found in the German-speaking areas of Europe. Their attire, instrumentation and musical arrangements are authentic. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased by calling Marv Bauer at 320-251-9055 or The Value Connection at 320-258-7283. There will be a buffet-style German meal served at 912 Regency Plaza, 912 W. St. Germain St., St. Cloud, for $25, which includes a drink and dessert. Reservations are required for the meal and can made through Marv Bauer.

Coats and other winter clothing donations are welcome at the concert. They also are being collected through Friday, Nov. 17, at parishes in St. Cloud, including Holy Spirit, St. Anthony, St. Augustine and St. Paul, and at Sacred Heart in Sauk Rapids.

Coats may be placed in boxes at the parishes or left at the rectories. They will be given away to those who need them from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, at St. Joseph Parish in Waite Park. Coats are distributed throughout the winter to children in area public and private schools. For more information about the Coats for Kids program (or to request a coat for a child or teenager), contact Tom Jacobs at 320-252-0126.
