Royalton bake sale aids childhood cancer research

The youth of Holy Trinity Parish in Royalton and the Royalton Boy Scouts will host a Cookies for Kids Cancer bake sale after the 5 p.m. Mass Saturday, Dec. 17, and the 11 a.m. Mass on Sunday, Dec. 18.

The event is raising funds for children’s cancer research and recognizes the battle against cancer that three girls and their families from Royalton are facing. A fourth girl from Milaca, who passed away Dec. 12, was also among those the group sought to honor. According to the National Cancer Institute, cancer is the number-one cause of death of children by disease in the United States.

This is the second year the groups have raised funds for this organization. Last year the group raised $733, and the money was locally matched for a $1,466 donation. Funds raised will be equally matched this year, as well.
