Summer is a busy time of comings and goings, which may be why I didn’t receive a question for this column. So in the spirit of summer travel and activities I offer you some timely prayers.

Four men were ordained for the Diocese of St. Cloud June 16 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.

A juvenile was charged with arson in the first degree for the fire that damaged St. Mary Church in Melrose in March 2016, according to a news release June 20 from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

Just last year, the church celebrated the 50th anniversary of the renewal of the diaconate as a permanent ordained ministry of the Catholic Church. Following the Second Vatican Council, Pope Paul VI re-established the permanent diaconate in 1967.

Many men today are redefining what it means to father. They are intimately involved in the raising of children and the responsibilities of family life, navigating the competing demands of work and home with love.
